Senior Ruby on Rails Developer

Kaleido is hiring a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer (m/f/x) to extend and improve our web applications, including remove.bg and unscreen.com, the market-leading products for automated background removal with Artificial Intelligence with more than 15 million users every month.

You will work on Ruby on Rails apps, including both backend and frontend development.

• After one week, you will write code that helps thousands of photographers, designers and businesses in their daily work. You will implement features with an immediate positive impact, learn from user feedback and publish improvements for frontend code and documentation.
• After one month, you will take ownership of 1-2 epics and plenty of features. You will receive customer feedback, prioritize functional and non-functional work and will work with our UX designer on entirely new interfaces and functionality. You will start writing critical-path code that runs millions of times each day.
• After one quarter, you will lead the development of a major Ruby on Rails app, including potentially attached satellite services. You will manage code quality, work on improving performance and compatibility and be involved in feature decisions. You will make data-based decisions from production metrics and work on improving the scalability, reliability and usability of backend and frontend products.

• You have 5+ years of experience with software development and 2+ years with Ruby on Rails.
• You know how to write Ruby code that is readable, maintainable and well-tested.
• As a senior developer you know when and how to set up effective tooling (build, CI, CD) without going down the rabbit hole. You understand when "done is better than perfect" and when investing for the longer term is worth it. You can work independently and know when it's best to get a second opinion or ask for help.
• Fluent English skills (both written and spoken)
• Self-motivated, ability to learn quickly and adapt to changes

• 38.5 h/week
• The salary for this position is 60.000 gross per year or more, depending on your qualifications and experience.
• You participate in the company’s stock option program
