Network and Firewall Engineer

Job Description
We currently have a vacancy for a Network and Firewall Engineer fluent in English, to offer his/her services as an expert who will be based in Vienna or remotely. The work will be carried out either remotely or in the company’s premises or on site at customer premises. In the context of the first assignment, the successful candidate will be integrated and will closely cooperate with a major client’s development team on site.
Your tasks:
- Manage the wired and wireless infrastructure, from implementation and optimization to daily operational support;
- Configure and manage Firewalls, VPN concentrators, and load balancers, and network switches for access to vital applications. Lead the deployment of network equipment onsite at the VIC location in Vienna, with possible domestic travel to other locations;
- Maintain current network infrastructure assuring high availability, redundancy, and resilience;
- Manage complex switching and routing environments supporting open or secured access and voice and video apps;
- Manage deployment of WAN circuits, including MPLS VPN's and P2P/IPsec circuits;
- Improve the existing logical segmentation and hardening to archive high resilience and security;
- Lead the design of multi-server environments: IP address schemes, DNS, Ether-Channel (Bonding), etc;
- Optimize, implement, and monitor network performance across all entire technology stack;
- Development and maintenance of new features for system bring-up and automation;
- Develop and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for operational efficiency;
- Draft and maintain network diagrams, build books, and technical "cheat sheets";
- Create and provide regular reports to the senior management pertaining to network health.
Requirements
- University degree in computer science or other related fields. With minimum of 5 years of relevant IT experience out of which at least 3 years’ experience designing, supporting, and delivering network solutions across security-sensitive environments;
- Solid hands-on experience with day-to-day management of complex LAN/WAN/Internet systems, network applications, PaloAlto firewalls, CITRIX NetScaler VPN aggregators, load balancers, and cloud network environments;
- Very good understanding of network, IT security, and public key infrastructure;
- Experience with high load / high availability systems and load optimizations;
- Knowledge in virtualization, networking, and cloud environments;
- Excellent written and spoken level of English language and ability to convey complex technical IT infrastructure or IT security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences including executives.
