Job Description

Exscientia is a global leader in applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) to modernize the way new medicines are created. We do this by applying the latest research, machine learning and modern high-performance computational methods to transform drug design. Exscientia developed the first-ever functional precision oncology platform to successfully guide treatment selection and improve patient outcomes in a prospective interventional clinical study, as well as to progress AI-designed small molecules into the clinical setting.

Our success crucially depends on our ability to rapidly make sense of vast amounts of complementary data, paving the way for truly high throughput AI-first research. We are therefore looking for a Laboratory Data Manager based in Vienna who will contribute to our mission to develop better medicines, faster, to people around the world.


In this position, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work closely with stakeholders in Target Development, Ramp;D, Bioinformatics, ClinOps, and QM to optimize data handling processes.
  • Help establish a LIMS solution to optimize experiment planning and metadata processing.
  • Support the continued development of a data warehousing solution for experimental data. In particular, act as a gatekeeper of data and metadata streams, ensuring the high level of data integrity necessary to power AI-first research.
  • Work closely with Quality Management to ensure GDocP compliance through an eQMS system.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of clinical data management plans, coordinating with external providers.
  • Liaison with members of Exscientia’s global data management team to ensure highest standards for data handling across the organization.

Requirements

Essential:

  • MSc degree or equivalent industry experience in Biology, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Pharmacology or a related subject.
  • Several years of experience handling biological assay data.
  • Knowledge of ontologies / knowledge frameworks.
  • Experience in the configuration and management of LIMS.
  • Experienced in creation and maintenance of clinical data management plans and the coordination with external providers.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong team player with an inclusive mindset.

Desirable:

  • Experience as a user of relational database systems such as SQL.
  • Prior exposure to simple command based scripts / data pipelining procedures e.g. Python, shell scripts.
  • Familiarity with public cancer research databases such as COSMIC, and/or pharmacological databases such as ChEMBL.
