Job Description

As a Full Stack Developer in Exscientia’s Precision Medicine team you will take a leading role in enabling research collaborations at the forefront of cancer precision medicine with the ultimate goal of transforming patients’ lives. You will do this through the development of custom web applications from start to finish that allow partners to share information and use common data analysis infrastructure. As a Full Stack Developer you will be deeply embedded in a cross functional team of biologists, bioinformaticians and clinicians and work with cutting-edge web technology, cloud infrastructure and deep learning driven analytical toolchains.

Exscientia is an AI-driven pharmatech company committed to discovering, designing and developing the best possible drugs in the fastest and most effective manner. Exscientia developed the first-ever functional precision oncology platform to successfully guide treatment selection and improve patient outcomes in a prospective interventional clinical study, as well as to progress AI-designed small molecules into the clinical setting.

Our pipeline demonstrates our ability to rapidly translate scientific concepts into precision-designed therapeutic candidates, with more than 25 projects underway. By designing better drugs, faster, we believe the best ideas of science can rapidly become the best medicines for patients.

We’re seeking a Full Stack Developer to contribute to our mission to develop better medicines, faster, to people around the world.

As the Full Stack Developer you will have the opportunity to:

  • Build software infrastructure that will drive research programmes at the forefront of cancer precision medicine. In particular, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Build web apps that allow non-expert internal and external stakeholders to interact with complex cloud deployed analytical toolchains, manage, and interrogate high dimensional data in a user friendly manner.
  • Interact with medical, wet lab and bioinformatics experts to understand stakeholder needs.
  • Design, implement, test and release small scale software packages (microservices, web apps, dashboards) that satisfy stakeholder needs.
  • Bandwidth and skill permitting, the successful candidate could also contribute to the improvement of AI-driven image and other data analysis algorithms.


  • At least a BSc level degree in engineering, computer sciences, physical sciences or similar.
  • At least 5 years of software development experience as a full stack developer.
  • Strong knowledge of:

o Apache/Nginx, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
o Front-end frameworks such as Vue, React or Angular
o Python and frameworks such as Flask or Django
o Development of microservices and REST APIs
o Common cloud architectures such as AWS, GCP or Azure
o Git/GitHub for code version control
o SQL and JSON database solutions

o Engineering best practises such as planning epics, automated functional testing and rapid release cycles

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly motivated and track record of success
